Asia and Mirka started The Public Intellectual out of a shared curiosity for literature and a desire to create access to Spanish literature.

Our desire to create a literary community took shape during our weekly runs as we prepped for a half marathon. Those long runs were the canvas for what came to be The Public Intellectual. Our name was inspired by a Substack article that discussed the death of the Public Intellectual.
